White House is an amazing city in Middle Tennessee. There are so many things it has to offer. The city is ideal for those who are wanting a small-town vibe but also want to be near bigger cities such as Nashville. In fact, it is only 30 minutes away from Nashville. There are many cool and fun facts about White House. In November of 1828, Richard Stone Wilks bought a piece of land for $200. On his recently purchased land, he started to build a large two-story house and named it the White House Inn. The White House Inn was special since he decided to paint it white instead of the common and traditional raw wood finish. The city is named after this inn.
Another fun fact is that the location of the inn is unique. Later on, it was discovered that the land and inn were considered to be located in both Sumner and Robertson county. How many houses have you seen that are located in the middle of two county lines? The last fun fact is about the land the inn was built on. The land was originally used as a Native American trail. It was one of the most popular and used trails for those who were traveling from Louisville, KY to Nashville, TN. Nowadays, it is better known as Highway 31W. There are so many other cool things about this city besides its history. White House has some of the best local restaurants and shops. It also is home to many historical and monumental sites. Most of these sites are free to visitors, so you do not even have to worry about spending money on tickets. There are other things you can do and see by simply walking around town. White House is one of the hidden gems of Tennessee, and you will not regret your visit!
